“ON THE PATH TO GLOBAL SOLIDARITY”
How are we to end the scandal of global poverty, which condemns over a billion people to live on less than 60 pence a day, and over 800 million to go hungry every night?
Vera Araújo, a sociologist from North East Brazil, has lectured for many years on Catholic Social Teaching, and inspired people from all corners of the world. To mark the 40th anniversary of Pope Paul VI’s letter on international development, Populorum Progressio, Vera will argue that its central themes are still relevant and urgent today. In particular, the connection between development and peace is critical if we are to meet the biggest challenge we face and move towards an effective global solidarity.
